There’s a lot going on behind the scenes when it comes to Microsoft Teams. From a retention perspective, you need to know where everything is stored, what retention options exist and how to target retention for each component.
I’ve captured some of this information in a table so you can see at-a-glance what you need to know to apply retention controls to the different Teams components.
The key components captured in the table:
- The Teams artifact you need to retain (e.g., files shared in Teams chats, all channel types)
- Where the artifact is stored for compliance purposes (e.g., hidden mailbox location, OD site)
- The type of retention that can be applied (e.g., retention policy and/or retention label)
- How to scope the locations you want to target (e.g., static or adaptive scope)
