Speaking at SharePoint Saturday Montréal 2018

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Lived in Canada my whole life and I’ve never been to Montréal (or the province of Quebec for that matter). I’m going to change all that this weekend thanks to the SharePoint Saturday Montréal event on June 2nd and I can hardly wait! While there, I’ll be doing a joint presentation with Charmaine Lee on Azure Information Protection.

Azure Information Protection: Taking a Team Approach from Planning to Adoption

Synopsis: There’s a lot more to implementing Azure Information Protection(AIP) than meets the eye simply because it goes far beyond the technical implementation of labels. In this practical session, we’ll walk thru some steps to help set your organization up for a successful AIP rollout.

These steps include:

  • how to plan your organization’s AIP labels
  • how to configure them for your tenant
  • how to ensure information workers in your organization have adopted their use

Each step is critical to the overall success of your AIP program and the reason why it cannot be done by the IT-Pro alone. Joanne and Charmaine team up for this session to share some practical advice and creative tips and tricks for rolling out AIP and will cover topics for the IT Pro, Information Manager, and Adoption specialist – all required resources on an AIP rollout team! You might even see an AIP bot!

Charmaine and I are partners in the Canadian MVP and MSP mentorship program.

Check out Charmaine’s recent work as a Program Manager intern at Microsoft’s experimental project division, the Garage, and the four incredible AI projects her and her team worked on for the past year, two of which were highlighted at the recent Microsoft Build conference. I am humbled to be joined by this remarkable, young woman.

[Update June 3, 2018] Had a great time in this beautiful city. A highlight of the weekend for me was going to the Notre Dame Basilica Aura lightshow. It was an amazing experience and I loved every minute of it – I would highly recommend it if you find yourself in Montreal.

The AIP session went very well and we had some great questions! The link to the slides on Slideshare is here.

I’m really looking forward to both the event and visiting one of the must-see places in Canada – hope to see you there!
