It will be a busy week for me! I’m thrilled to be joined by 2 of my fantastic MVP friends to deliver some of my sessions… I’m giving a full-day workshop with David Drever, 2 joint sessions with Daniel Glenn and 1 session on my own. All are focused on two of my favorite topics… compliance and Microsoft Syntex. We’re busy prepping them right now and can’t wait to share them with you!
Details for my workshop and sessions are below… check out the link here for the full conference agenda.
Workshop: Microsoft 365 Compliance: Implementing information governance, risk, and compliance management
When: Tuesday, June 17 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM
Workshop facilitators: David Drever and myself
Synopsis: Microsoft 365 gives enterprises and government organizations the tools they need in the modern workplace to identify their risky information and to govern their data effectively to meet regulatory compliance needs. These tools help protect sensitive data from accidental and malicious data loss, and they protect the organization from risk by ensuring we retain our data appropriately following regulatory controls such as GDPR, NIST, and CIS. Implementing these compliance solutions requires a clear understanding of the capabilities available in the Microsoft cloud and industry best practices for establishing a data governance framework.
In this all-day workshop, David and I will help you learn how to develop a framework for information governance for enterprises and government organizations, including planning a record retention schedule and implementing retention labels/policies. They’ll teach you how to leverage disposition reviews, implement event-based retention, and automatically apply retention labels to your data. They’ll discuss how utilizing Compliance Manager, and Insider Risk Management can further govern your environment.
Finally, you will learn how to use eDiscovery to facilitate legal holds and “Freedom of Information and Privacy” (FOIP) requests. Join us to discover how to implement data governance and compliance in Microsoft 365!

Session: An end-to-end look at Microsoft Syntex
When: Thursday, June 19 from 9:00 to 10:00AM
Session presenter: Me 🙂
Synopsis: Microsoft Syntex is a big step forward in providing the ability to intelligently identify content across your Microsoft 365 environment. Unstructured content is being produced at an exponential rate in our modern workplaces today and we need a way to manage it at scale by providing structure (content types and metadata) and governance (security and compliance controls) to it. Microsoft Syntex is that and so much more!
To demonstrate this capability, Joanne Klein will walk through a live demo of using a Microsoft Syntex unstructured document processing model to intelligently identify Statements of Work across SharePoint libraries.
The walkthrough will cover setup, training, deployment, and all the “extras” you get with a Syntex license.
Microsoft Syntex. It’s almost magic.
Session: Microsoft Syntex and Viva Topics – A better together story
When: Friday, June 20 from 10:20 to 11:30AM
Session presenters: Daniel Glenn and myself
Synopsis: Microsoft Syntex is Content AI integrated into the flow of work, but what does that really mean?
Join Daniel and I in this session where we’ll unravel this statement and demonstrate how Syntex can bring structure to content and feed into Viva Topics to automatically organize it for you! Ultimately, this makes it easy for people to find the information and knowledge they’re looking for right when they need it in the context of their work.
We will demonstrate an end-to-end example of how a simple-to-build Syntex AI model, SharePoint taxonomy, curated Viva topics and AI-generated topic pages can come together in a secure and compliant manner to turn content into knowledge across the Microsoft 365 apps users use every day.
Session: Collaboration and Compliance in the Modern Workplace
When: Friday, June 20 from 12:30 to 1:40PM
Session presenters: Daniel Glenn and myself
Synopsis: Have you moved to Microsoft 365 for Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Yammer to reap the benefits of modern collaboration, but left wondering how to incorporate some of the compliance features you now have access to? Join Daniel and I in this session where we’ll bring together two equally important yet seemingly incompatible aspects of the modern workplace: collaboration and compliance.
Although serving both masters is challenging, this workshop will look at practical ways to “dress up” collaboration with compliance. With a he-said-she-said approach, Daniel will talk about the modern collaboration tools available in Microsoft 365 and I will share what kinds of Microsoft Purview compliance controls could be applied to help them be more compliant.
I hope to see you in DC in June!! If you’re there, don’t be shy… say hi!! 🙂
